The Artistic Research Alliance has published its first official statement “Leveraging the Full Potential of Artistic Research”. Through this statement, the Alliance seeks to elevate the field of artistic research, expand its influence, and continue advocating for its recognition and integration into policy, education, and innovation frameworks.

The Alliance stands for the field of artistic research in all its diversity. This includes academic institutions as well as independent research actors, and research in all art practice disciplines (including architecture, design, film, photography, fine art, media and digital arts, music and the performing arts, creative writing, circus, as well as transdisciplinary efforts).

Cilect is represented by the Executive Director, Professor Stanislav Semerdjiev, first row on the left, and GEECT by the Chair, Professor Manuel Damasio, second row in the middle.

During its meeting in Vienna on 27 September 2024, the alliance reiterated the importance of collective action on key policy and funding frameworks, building on foundational documents that continue to be relevant today: The Vienna Declaration on Artistic Research (2020), The “Florence Principles” on the Doctorate in the Arts (2016), and Proposed Changes to the Frascati Manual (2022). Through regular knowledge exchange, the partners will develop and implement a shared advocacy strategy. This will include joint campaigns, policy papers, representation in stakeholder consultations and participation in interdisciplinary forums for policy and discourse development.

Please review the full statement and join us in advocating for the future of artistic research.
