Barry Dignam from the National Film School, Institute of Art, Design and Technology Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, Ireland, was elected as the new Chair of GEECT Regional Council. 38 schools were present at the meeting in Beijing on October, 23 (with 30 proxies). Dignam received 40 votes and his opponent Jyoti Mistry from the Valand Academy (HDK), Sweden 28 votes.
Manuel Damasio from Lusófona University, Portugal, stepped down after being a member of the Board since 2014 and the Chair for maximum time of four years.
The other members of the Board are Guido Lukoschek (Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg FABW, Germany), who is the Vice Chair and Treasurer, Jyoti Mistry (Valand Academy HDK, Sweden), Patrick Geeraerts (Royal Institute for Theatre,Cinema & Sound RITCS, Belgium) and Jana Keeble (Film and Television Faculty VSMU, Slovakia) and Kirsi Rinne, the Admin&Comms Coordinator from Aalto University is the secretary of the Council.
